About Me

My name is Joel Tulloch. I'm a web developer living in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and this page is all about me.

It all began on a warm, sunny day in the spring of 1980. ..

I grew up in Northern Ontario, on a fairly large island. When I was quite young, my family was given a Commodore Vic 20 and my adventures in computing began. Those "baby steps" in BASIC provided the starting point for a journey that I have continued to this day.

This isn't just work for me. I love writing code, and I love making computers do exactly what I tell them to. In my humble opinion, computers were created to serve people. My goal is to try and make them better at their job.

Technically Speaking. ..

I currently work mostly within the realm of Microsoft technologies. I appreciate the power and flexibility that comes with the .NET Framework, and in my opinion C# is a great programming language. Recently I have become almost fanatical about JavaScript. The more that I learn and the more that I use it, the more excited I become.

Here is a list of things that I'm particularly good at, in no particular order: C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET AJAX, JavaScript, XHTML, and CSS. I also have database experience with Microsoft SQL Server, and have been spending quite a bit of time recently familiarizing myself with LINQ. What really gets me going these days is JavaScript, and that's likely the area where most of my writing will be focused.

Oh Yeah, and. ..

Just in case you're still with me, I should mention that my life isn't exclusively taken up with computers. Here is a short list of other things that I really enjoy: playing music, listening to music, reading, cooking, photography, hiking, and climbing.
